To all my dear friends,

After nineteen years of putting my dream on hold, I was presented with the opportunity to pursue my dream career. Although it was a forced opportunity, I am thankful to be able to devote all of my energy to the pursuit of my dream.

I am excited to announce that I am now working as a Real Estate Agent for Keller Williams in McKinney! As you all know, selling real estate has been a long term goal of mine. The past three years I primarily sold to family and close friends and along the way flipped cottages in the Historic District for fun. I now have the opportunity to use all the tools I learned while working for a large corporation to market, manage, and sell homes here in the North Texas area. I will also utilize all those years of customer focused training to provide the highest level of service to my clients.

If you or somebody you know is in the market to purchase or sell a home, I would love the opportunity to present what I can offer.  Also, for anyone outside of Texas, I have established a network of specialists that I will be working with on a one -on- one with for any referral .. buy, sell, or lease.

My prayer is to get the word out to all my friends - all of you- so that I may make  a difference to the single mom who never had a home, to the young married couple buying their first home, a couple retiring looking for the perfect patio home on a golf course, or the empty nester couple, perhaps the college grad buying his/her first condo.. the list of opportunity is endless.

I always pray to make a difference in someone's life... somehow... someday... I believe this may be it!

Thank you for all your support!

PS... I hope you love my brand... website up on Feb 11th - will share when launched!

National Girlfriend and Sister's Week!!

I am  only as strong as the coffee I drink, the  hairspray I use, and  the friends I have. To the cool women who  have touched my life.   Here's to you!  Post it on your blog!  Thanks to my sweet sister Fannie for sharing!!

It  is good to be a woman:
1. We got off the Titanic first.
2. We can  scare male bosses with mysterious  gynecological disorder excuses.
3. Taxis  stop for us.
4. We don't look like a frog in  a blender when dancing.
5. No fashion faux  pas we make could ever rival the Speedo.
6.  We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.
7. If we forget to shave, no one has to  know.
8. We can congratulate our teammate  without ever touching her rear end.
9. We  never have to reach down every so often to make  sure our privates are still there.
10. We  have the ability to dress ourselves.
11.   We can talk to the opposite sex without  having to picture them naked.
12.  If  we marry someone 20 years younger, we are aware  that we will look like an idiot.
13. We will  never regret piercing our ears.
14. There  are times when chocolate really can solve all  your problems.
15. We can make comments  about how silly men are in their presence  because they aren't listening anyway.

Hope you laughed out LOUD!! Have a great week!

It was "Mimi night" last night and here is what we baked up! As you can tell from the photo he was a bit focused on wrestling! Hope you all have a wonderful week-end! Smiles!

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. You asked?

How many different fabrics do I have in the master bedroom? Well, I counted around 7, but I figured since they are all black and white I am gypsy chic! Right??  Matching fabrics or bed in bag is not my personality at all, as you can tell from the polka dotted dust ruffle to the damask print in the comforter to the different pillows on the bed. My favorite chair, my mom gave to me one year for my birthday, now covered in toile! My favorite wall lamps covered in black white check.. so it is really a hodgepodge of black & white fabrics that warm my master suite and my heart! Thanks for asking about all my prints and I hope you find what warms your heart in your home!

2) What is the color of my dining and living area? Color, Sands of Time by Sherwin Williams
3) Are my hardwood floors orginal to the house? Yes and No..  The hardwood floors added to the kitchen in 08. At that time I also had the entire cottage hardwoods stripped, restained and hand scraped.
4) Do I have a new sofa? LORD, NO! This sofa was once all red, but had her redone and I designed the look, mixing 5 fabrics.. had this amazing guy recover -cost me about $375  and yes... he also did the wingback chairs for $125. i bought the wing back chairs at an auction I attend regularly in Edom

8)  Would I consider helping plan a wedding? YES.. YES.. As you all know I have been in events and marketing for 19 years in corporate America so yes.. I would be thrilled to help anyone or review any type of a contract for your event.  ( I have done 3 weddings the last few years and it is pretty cool)

10) Why don't you do more post on MIMI Thursday?  under my label "What is a MIMI?"  I had a strange comment on my blog about my grandsons - it freaked me out so stopped for a while.. will continue to do but not with face photography.  This person was blocked from site.

We're having..

Chicken Stir Fry tonight here at the blue cottage!
Credits given here...

2 whole chicken breasts
1 lg. can pineapple chunks
1 lg. bunch broccoli
4 to 5 carrots
2 onions
1 green pepper
2 c. mushrooms
2 stalks celery
1 to 2 tsp. minced garlic
Soy sauce to taste
Stir-fry sauce to taste
Sesame oil (to stir fry in)
Par-boil chicken breasts, skin and cut into pieces (save water). Chop all vegetables. Drain juice from can of pineapple chunks and marinate cooked chicken pieces in juice for 1/2 to 1 hour. Heat sesame oil in wok or very large frying pan. Add vegetables, starting with hardest (carrots) and adding remaining vegetables little by little. (Adding the onions with the carrots gives a better flavor.) Then add chicken with pineapple juice.
Cover wok and let vegetables steam. While vegetables are steaming, cook rice in chicken water. After vegetables are cooked enough (do not overcook) stir-fry vegetables (should be semi-crunchy). Add pineapple chunks. Serve over cooked rice.
oh p.s. I added in roma tomatoes as well
It was very yummy!

Frame~Vintage Mirror

The picture frame I found on a curb and painted natural canvas and sanded the edges.. the mirror hanging inside is an old vintage mirror that I found at a local junk store. I love the reflections in the mirror of the collectibles on the shelf with a glimpse of the chandelier hanging.. This is in my Mom's room when she comes to visit.

Few Mirrors .. little silver... Glass Apothecary Jars

One of my favorite spots in the master bathroom, layered mirrors, glass apothecary jars filled with things that are a "must have" favorite bath soap, favorite speciality soap, bath fizz balls, q-tips, cotton balls, displayed on a silver tray that I found junkin'! Simple but classic.
What is in your favorite spot?

Happy New Year~ 2010 A New Beginning!

LOML (love of my life) and I just arrived from a quick little overnight stay at one of our favorite B & B located in Mineola, Texas.  If you ever have a chance pop in and say hello to Bob & Sherry. They offer the best hospitality, best breakfast ever.  Last night we celebrated the New Year in with 5 other couples staying at the inn with a fabulous dinner at Kitchen's Hardware.. These folks can cook a steak and that is my FAVORITE, LOML had salmon, followed by an amazing cherry jubilee at the B & B followed with great fellowship and the peppermint pig!! We had a blast meeting new friends. I love new friends, old friends and you! I wish each of you happiness, great health, and many dreams to come true in 2010.
Hugs,
Valarie

P.S. Did you set any resolutions for 2010??  I would love to hear them!!!
